We were engaged by a young family seeking to make the railing of their roof deck safer for their energetic young child. We designed a panelized system that could be fit over the existing aluminum tube railing. Intended to be fabricated on a CNC die-punch, we streamlined the pattern so it could be produced with only two custom punches.

This furniture piece came out of thinking about improvisation and designing for inefficiency - rather than a container that performs perfectly, the user must fit books and objects around the structural supports, preventing them from over-filling the credenza. The perforations allow light to filter down from above, preserving a lightness without sacrificing function.
